Eli Manning withdraws from a part of the giants: ‘It’s too expensive for me’

NFL and New York Giants -legend Eli Manning have changed his mind about buying a minority interest in his former team. On Wednesday, the former Quarterback from Giants told NBC that he was priced to become a sub-owner of the franchise.

“It’s too expensive for me, these figures are really getting big,” said Manning. “An interest of 1% worth $ 10 billion turns into a very large number.”

In September the Giants were rated at $ 7.85 billion in the ratings of CNBC’s NFL team. She ranks the song as the fourth most expensive franchise in the NFL behind the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots. Manning, who said he is not interested in buying another team, it was previously it it was worth the Giants $ 10 billion.

He also noted that being a partial owner would cause a conflict with his other efforts, including the Manningcast with his brother Peyton Manning on ESPN and hosting football camps.

“I love the giants and I think it deserves the appreciation,” Manning said. “There will be people who want to go for it. I was a bit along the ride, but it is really a matter of complications with the fact that I am doing broadcast.

“I would not be able to talk to the players, I coach in the Pro Bowl, I do a high school football camp where college -boys come. There is many conflicts and it would influence my daily job, so I had to withdraw from the Giant deal. But I am still very involved with the Giants organization.”

The statements of Manning suggest that he does not want to be limited in his roles such as Tom Brady after buying a piece of the Las Vegas Raiders. The sevenfold Super Bowl champion received the green light that became a part-owner in October 2024. But his lucrative 10-year-old deal of $ 375 million as Head of NFL analyst of FOX Sports, Brady Associed from the facilities and practices of other teams.

For the first time, Manning hinted in the interest of buying part of the team in January during an interview with NBC.

“It is definitely something interesting,” Manning said then “there is probably only one team that I want to pursue, and it is the one I have played for 16 years, and it is local and the most logical, but we just have to find out if they would ever sell a little.”

With Manning who withdraws his bid, the Mara and Tisch families will continue to find candidates to take over an ‘non-controlling interest’ from the minority that they announced in February.

NBC reported earlier that Julia Koch made an attempt in May as the owner of minorities. In the same month, Sportico reported that former giants Defense End Michael Strahan and billionaire Marc Lasry offer for an interest as a duo.

The importance of the Giants remains on the market after record purchases of the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Washington commanders and Denver Broncos in the past three years.

Manning spent his entire 15-year-old NFL career at the Giants and helped the franchise to win two of their four super bowl titles in 2008 and 2012.
