The San Antonio Spurs ensured that they had depth on the point guard spot on Wednesday.
ESPNs Shams Charania reported That the Spurs and Jordan McLaughlin agreed to a one -year -old deal, $ 3 million to return to San Antonio.
McLaughlin played 18 games with the Spurs last season after being traded by the Sacramento Kings next to De’aaron Fox to San Antonio. McLaughlin, 29, only received 6.8 minutes per match with the Spurs while on average 2.5 points and 1.5 assists.
McLaughlin spent the first five seasons of his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He had a promising Rookie season when he achieved 7.6 points and 4.2 assists per match. McLaughlin became a fixture in the rotation of Minnesota for the coming different seasons, but he had trouble finding playing time with the kings and traces.
“I’m just going to go inside and put energy and effort as I always do,” McLaughlin told reporters after being traded on the Spurs last season, according to the San Antonio Express-News’ Tom Orsborn. “I have been in the competition for six years now, so I know the schemes a bit attacking and defensive and trying to do some teams, so hopefully I will be acclimatized quite quickly here.”
It may be wise for the Spurs to use McLaughlin a little more often during the 2025-26 campaign and he could take some of the minutes that went to Chris Paul last season, who was a free agent.

McLaughlin is a skilled playmaker and could help the floor for the Victor Wembanyama star center, because he is a career 37.3% 3-point shooter, albeit at 1.6 attempts per game.
