by New images made by NASAs James Webb Space Telescope Show young stars that form within a “teen bean” on the cat’s leg needle.
The Pootnevel of the cat is named after its resemblance to a feline footprint: the mist seems to have three toes, popularly called “teen beans”, and a wider heel. The mist is near the Scorpius Constellation and is approximately 4,000 light years of the earth, NASA said in a press release. The James Webb telescope concentrated its nearly infrared camera on one of the “toe beans” to look through the gas and the dust that consists of the mist.
The telescope found an “active star -forming area”. The young stars, shown in yellow, seem to “cut away from nearby gas and dust,” said Nasa.

The stars also emit bright light, shown in blue in the webb images. Glowing red spots in the Webb images show areas where star formation is underway, said Nasa. Other stars look blue and white. These have no radiation between itself and the camera from Webb, Nasa said. At the bottom of the “toe bean” are small, dense dust filaments that can be close enough to collapse in themselves and start the process of becoming stars. The dust itself is shown in the brown.
The colorful scene is temporary, Nasa said, but will form the future of the area.
“As a result of the lively behavior of these massive stars, the local star formation process will eventually come to a halt,” said Nasa.
The images were released to celebrate the third birthday of the telescope, which launched in July 2022. Since then it has made a number of discoveries, including showing that the universe has evolved faster than astronomers believed, Nasa said. The telescope also has one Number of stars and planetsand identified asteroids who can come close to the earth.
“For three years in his mission, Webb continues to reveal his design delivery-firster hidden aspects of the universe, from the star formation process to some of the earliest galaxies,” said Shawn Domagal-Goldman, acting director of the Astrophysics Division at NASA headquarters in Washington. “… The questions that Webb has asked are just as exciting as the answers it gives us.”
