Casino Group, the licensed operator in France, has launched the first new generation of Spar supermarket in Luynnes, Aix-en-Provence.
With the updated SPAR store design, retailers can adjust their stores to the requirements of the customer.
The Luynes -Supermarkt was developed in collaboration with Casino Group and the independent retailers from Spar France, which operate 95% of the national SPAR stores.
The concept can be adapted to national, urban, tourist and coastal areas, with a focus on meeting various needs of customers through food-to-go, local products and convenience offer.
The store has a modern design with a clear facade, clear signposting, digital screens and improved merchandising.
The range comprises 2,300 items, with an emphasis on local, organic, international, non-food and snacking options.
More than 400 products are produced locally and a weekly fish market at the weekend offers extra fresh products.
The food-to-go part has been redesigned to meet the customer’s demand, supplemented with other departments such as a wine cellar.
Services such as home delivery further improve the customer experience.
Spar has been present in France since 1955, with Casino Group the license to operate the brand since the 1990s.
Phillep Palazzi, CEO of Casino Group, stated: “Because of this new SPAR concept, we confirm a strong conviction: closeness is a structural response to the expectations of French consumers.
“With this new generation Spar we want to build a closeness store that is based on the regions, to our partner retailers and an offer adapted to new consumer modes.”
